“If you want to feel that you are part of a movement for a better future, these are the headphones you want”. It is with this slogan that the Adidas RPT-02 SOL headphones will be promoted on the market, which will be the result of a collaboration between two companies – Adidas and Zound Industries. By the way, the latter is also collaborating with Marshall.

Why is the Adidas RPT-02 SOL so interesting? First of all, the fact that these are wireless headphones equipped with a solar battery. Yes, the sun will feed them. At the same time, you will not need to hang out for hours under the sun. The developers claim that the headphones will be charged from any light source. Those. battery life will be replenished even from internal lighting and all this is for “eternal pastime”.

But that’s not the only way to charge your headset. You can refuel them in the usual way through the USB Type-C port. One charge should be enough for 80 hours of operation. The headphones have an indicator light that shows the intensity of the charging process.

Another feature – the adidas RPT-02 SOL are made from recycled materials. For example, plastic parts are recyclable and the result of recycling air conditioners, car headlights and plastic bottles. Recycled polyester was used for the fabric sections and the packaging was made using recycled paper.

At the moment, the Adidas RPT-02 SOL is only an ambitious idea, which will become a commercial product no earlier than the first half of 2022. They will cost from $ 199 to $ 229. Already during the announcement, we will find out more details about the headphones; but it is already known that there will be no active noise reduction here.

In an email conversation with Digital Trends, Rosell gave us exclusive insights into this exciting product.

“We have worked with Adidas for around three years, and we see our values adding up really strongly in areas such as sustainability, well-being, and innovation,” Rosell told Digital Trends. “The mission when it comes to tech is to provide the best audio products for use while training in various ways, from hardcore athletics to athleisure.”

“One of the key differences is they are powered by any light,” Rosell explained. “Direct sunlight will be the strongest source; but even indoor lighting or, even better, having it close to windows will generate energy. The cells are flexible in their application and not sensitive to being shadowed in the same way as traditional solar cells.”
